Drama and Performing Arts
For exam classes we use the syllabus for theLondon Academy of Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
Classes are one hour per week and exams are taken in London. You will perform solo pieces and duologues, as well as group work during your class. You will also be given pieces to rehearse for your exam. This is a lively class with lots of talent and spirit
Youth Theatre
You may like to join our Youth Theatre Class. This is also a very lively class where the pupils study and perform a different script each term and perform in three or four different drama festivals per year. We have entered the following drama festivals: the Electric Theatre, Guildford; the Rhoda McGaw Theatre, Woking; and The Playhouse, Elmbridge. The Joanna School of Dance and Performing Arts have won lots of trophies and our pupils really enjoy this class
Performing Arts
This class is on a Tuesday 4.45pm – 6pm aged 6+ for students who would like to sing, dance and act. Each term we choose a musical theatre piece to study. The pupils perform the whole production at the end of each term to their parents and guests.
Performances have included Barnum, Bugsy Malone, James and the Giant Peach, Wicked, The Wizard of Oz, High School Musical, Frozen, Grease, Aladdin, Peter Pan, Cinderella and many more
Genie Theatrical Agency
The Genie Theatrical Agency, part of the Joanna School of Dance, has been running for 15 years.
We belong to all the main bodies who advertise the theatrical auditions as they arrive on their books.
The Genie Theatrical Agency has had many successes over the years with adults and children alike achieving lots of opportunities to audition for all sorts of jobs including musical theatre, TV and adverts.
The Genie Theatrical Agency is open to all children from the Joanna School of Dance as we can already see what they can achieve.
All other clients are admitted on audition.

Theatre Productions
The JSD Theatre Company is made up of people of all ages who just love to perform, sing or dance.
They work with professional musicians, technicians, directors and choreographers and generally have a great time whilst doing what they most enjoy.
Over the years the company has performed many productions at the Guildford Civic Hall and The Electric Theatre – with great success.
